First JAKEe Design CyberTruck
Wrap Designs Hits the Road
Part 1
Update as of September 1, 2024: I just added a Part 2 to this story.
If you are a reader of TeslaMagazine.org, and you are a CyberTruck fan, you are likely aware of my original design reference concept which I first published on November 24, 2019, that consists of a Wrap design that fundamentally metamorphosizes the design look of the CyberTruck and makes it look much more like a streamlined SUV.
I created the render below from a photo I took at a Tesla Showroom just after Tesla began deliveries of the CyberTruck.
As I have pointed out before, when I first saw the CyberTruck, when Elon showed in off in November 21, 2019, my design mind kicked in, and saw it as being an incomplete design. In particular, I kept seeing the side windows as being an incomplete pyramid, or a pyramid that had been clipped or cut short, so I immediately started playing around and experimenting which changes to the overall geometry.
While I placed my order for a CyberTruck within a few minutes of them becoming available on the evening of November 21, 2019, I decided NOT to purchase a Foundation Series, as I didn't want to pay a $27,500 premium to be a beta tester. Specifically, I thought it was absurd Tesla was charing me $20K++ for FSD, which still (as of this writing) was not included in the CyberTruck. I decided to wait until Tesla worked out all the early flaws, so I hope to take delivery of my CyberTruck in about 6 months or so, at which time I will showcase it in detail.
It is excellent advice to avoid purchasing product from the first production run of just about any product as there are almost always inherent flaws that were overlooked, or not foreseen by the manufacturer that quickly become apparent once the product starts shipping to customers—from feedback.
Update: August 12, 2024: This dude
A fellow CyberTruck enthusiast who owns a CyberTruck sent me a link to a Facebook post that showed a wrapped CyberTruck that arguably comes closest to my original design. The owner, named Carlos Ruiz showed my image in his post which is seen below, which was obviously his target he showed his wrapper.
I want to make a few points:
Point 1: I played around like crazy with my red pinstripe idea over the past 5 years, and realized after a great deal of experimentation the ideal height or thickness of a pinstripe is a fat pinstripe that is identical in height to the height of the outer edges of the CyberTruck running lights as seen below. I don't know exactly what the height is, but if it's skinnier, it will not optimize the geometry.
The image below was the first image I discovered on Facebook from a Tesla owner who wrapped his CyberTruck using my original two-tone wrap idea with the rear sail faux window panel that completes my pyramid window shape.
The CyberTruck design above was done by Tyler Le, and he posted it on Facebook. While Tyler fundamentally incorporated my original JAKEe Cybertruck design reference concept he wrapped his top section in yellow, which looks very cool, in a Pittsburgh Steelers/Pirates/Penguins/Bumblebee kind of way...
Ironically, T-Sportline seemed to appreciate my rear window wrap idea as they now offer it, and they call it "Tesla Cybertruck Rear Window Fade Out PPF Wrap Kit", which they charge $199, and we see it pictured below.
A reader of TeslaMagazine.org loved my original design and wrote in to chat with me before he wrapped his CyberTruck, which is pictured below. He incorporated the new T-Sportline "Tesla Cybertruck Rear Window Fade Out PPF Wrap Kit", along with T-Sportline's CT7 radical 24 inch CyberTruck Fully Forged Lightweight Tesla wheels, and powder coated his brake calipers in red. He contemplated doing my two-tone version, but ultimately decided to go with more of Storm Trooper white with black trim vibe which looks awesome!!!!
